Need a butt-kicking?

Read this book.

"Crazy Love" by Francis Chan. You can find it at a Christian bookstore, at Borders, at Amazon...pretty much any of those book-selling places.

Amazing. I can only read one chapter at a time. Be prepared, this is not a "feel good" book. Read it if you want to be challenged in an enormous way.

Out of the mouth of babes...

I think I got that saying right. However it goes, something happened today that made me think of that for sure.

So I'm teaching Bible class, and we're studying the disciples, one by one. Right now we're on James the brother of John, and how they are both referred to as Boanerges, meaning Sons of Thunder. Anyway, I asked the question, "Why did Jesus come into the world?" and the students had verses they were looking up to find the answers in Scripture.

The first girl (let's call her Susie) was looking up John 3:17.

Me: So why did Jesus come into the world? Susie, read your verse.
Susie: "I have no husband..."
Me: Wait a second Susie, are you sure you're on the right verse?
Susie: Oh, I was on John4:17. Whoops.
Sheila: Jesus had no husband? Jesus is gay?

So much for teaching on James today. The whole class erupted with laughter and I had to repair the damages caused by Sheila putting that idea into anyone's mind, regardless of the fact that she was joking.

My, my, my. Mrs. Mean Green had to come out. Who is that, you may ask? Take a look:

December

I'm baaaaack!

I'm sorry I've been away for so long. Things have been busy. We have been getting our new house set up, taking care of two wild and crazy dogs, Christmas concerts, school play, teaching, seeing old friends, weddings, funerals...you get the picture.

School is going great. God has been preparing me for this school since I got my teaching credential in 2004. I waited so long for a job, and almost got one several times, but now I understand. This school is a perfect fit for me. Working with special ed kids is so rewarding and uplifting. I appreciate the challenge :) I have many stories to tell. Here's one for now.

We're at science camp in the mountains and the kids are playing pool and foosball. Another teacher and I are supervising them.

(Fred doesn't say his "r" correctly...read it like so)
Fred: talking about a whoopee cushion...
Me: Hey Fred (I changed his name), what's a whoopee cushion?
Fred: I'm not sure. I don't really know how to explain it
Other Teacher: What color is it?
Fred: well, kinda orangeish
Me: Well, what do you do with it?
Fred: you FART on it! haha

These kids make me laugh so hard. It's amazing to be able to teach them about the Lord and to grow alongside them.

Yoda is getting as cute as ever. Here is a video of her and I playing...
